At present there is a fierce atmosphere against EVMs in the country. Due to that, EVM Hatao Morcha was formed. Our slogan is, “Meri Parchi – Mere Haath”. A big seminar of Dalits, OBCs, backward classes, advocates, NGOs, farmers and youth was organized today on this important topic at Gandhi Peace Foundation, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg, New Delhi. In which it was unanimously decided that now time has come to Gherao Supreme Court with full force. Everyone including the farmer leaders said that before this, there should be a simultaneous protest against EVMs at the district headquarters of the entire country and a nationwide atmosphere should be created. The leaders also said that they should express their anger by breaking or burning EVM dummies while protesting at the district headquarters.
The country is currently going through an undeclared emergency. Section 144 has been imposed in Delhi on the pretext of farmers' movement and Delhi Police is trying to stop programs from being organized even in closed halls on the instructions of the Central Government. A huge meeting was organized by EVM Hatao Morcha on behalf of NGOs, India Alliance, social organizations, intellectuals, farmer organizations and citizens' platform of the country on 22 February at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, but Delhi Police stopped it. When the permission was also cancelled, they gathered at the Youth Congress office and demonstrated at Jantar Mantar. Thousands of our comrades were kept at Sansad Marg, Tughlaq Road, Rajendra Nagar and Indrapuri police stations till late night. The Supreme Court gave a historic verdict on the irregularities in the election of Mayor of Chandigarh. If the mayor there had not been elected through ballot paper, this rigging would not have been detected. Common people have come to believe that BJP is winning the elections by rigging and in such a situation, it is very easy to rig the electronic voting machine, which is very impossible to catch. There is a ban on protests at Jantar Mantar till 12th March so that the BJP government's misuse of EVMs is not exposed and voices are not raised against corruption, inflation and unemployment and farmers' movement cannot take place. It is possible that the model code of conduct will be announced by March 12 and till then there will be no movement in the capital of Delhi. The BJP government is also making the excuse that other protests have also been banned but the main reason is to stop the anti-EVM movement.
Today's program was mainly attended by Deepak Babaria, General Secretary of Congress and In-charge of Delhi and Haryana, Dr. Udit Raj, Ex. MP, Convenor - EVM Hatao Morcha, Arvinder Singh Lovely, President Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, Rajkumar Saini, Ex. MP., Rajendra Pal Gautam, Ex. Minister, Delhi Government, farmer leader Gurnam Singh Chaduni, Bhanu Pratap, senior advocate, Professor Anand Kumar, Nagmani Kushwaha, Ex. Union Minister, Jagdeep Kochhar from ADR etc. addressed.
